Today we started the day with a quick little river taxi ride to get a little closer to the heart of Bangkok.
It let us off in "China Town" and let me tell you...it was pure insanity. Where there once were side walks, there are now vendors selling just about anything. They also have this crazy system here...NO stop lights! that's right, total mayhem! Crossing the street can be a scary and long process. I even heard one guy excuse himself from a phone call cause he "had to try and cross the street now." That's how much focus it takes to not get hit by a car, scooter, or tuk tuk!
One thing I do enjoy is all the stray cats. Sure they're a little sketchy, with their shifty eyes and stubby tails, but I always love to see cats along my travels! Reminds me of home, my Mom, and Boo Radley.
One reason we went downtown was to get our train tickets ahead of time for Chiang Mai. Thank goodness we did too, the lady who helped us said it's the King's birthday on Friday (the day we leave) so most trains were filling up! We got our berths all booked though thank goodness. Never taken an overnight train before so that should be cool. Really looking forward to that part of our trip!
Afterwards we took our first trip on the MTR and went to check out the venue for the show Anto will be doing when we're back in Bangkok on the 12th. It was cool to explore a new area of town. We even found a Domino's! Well...an elevator that lead to a Domino's. I was hopeful they would have delicious gluten free pizza like at home, but no dice. Still Anto was able to enjoy a little pizza before we ventured back to our hood.

Ended up on a foot bridge above Bangkok rush hour and had to stop to take a couple pictures. It was so cool!
In my search for food, we had to stop for some silly fun along the way. Which hat do you like better? Hat fashion is SO in right now.
There is a cute local restaurant near us and they make a mean pad Thai. I believe it's a couple that owns it, the man is always so happy and kind to us. The wife takes your order and then goes and cooks it herself! I think that's why it tastes so good. I love to cook, I connect to my food and the process in which I make it. So knowing it's her who's preparing it really feels like a home made meal. Pad Thai in Thailand...Can't beat that!
We just finished booking the rest of our accommodation for the trip and planning some activities for while we're in Chiang Mai, so feeling pretty good right now! No more planning, just need to relax and enjoy the rest of the journey :)
PS had to stop for a photo op here to send a little holiday love to our friends and family! Miss you!
