Its been a week or so since we last posted when we went to Ocean park, and let's just say alot has happened!
I have been dreaming of performing in the Hong Kong International Comedy Competition since the early stages of my comedy career, when I was still in Ottawa. With the recent development of hosting weddings in Cantonese and English, I really wanted to make my way down here to my family's motherland and experience both. I told Jen about this last year, and she was so excited for me to live this dream. Here she is with me, always laughing along. She is helping me with what jokes to choose, practicing them, and even making sure I say them properly... can you say pageant mom? HA! I even asked her what was the best joke to write right there!
On Thursday, it all happened! It was a sold out show, and I'm talking RAMMED! Like people sitting on the stairs of the club sold out. The entire show from top to bottom got such incredible reactions, it was really difficult to see who would move on to the next round. I was really proud of all the performers and how everyone composed themselves to deliver their best sets! I ended up getting super lucky and being on the list to move onto the FINALS :D

This was the incredible host, Vivek Mahbubani, who was so giving the entire show. He was recently voted as one of top 10 comedians in the World by the Laugh Factory, yet so humble to help seat people before the show started. He even took time to take this with me!
This is us after we all found out we were going to be in the finals! It looks like I was photoshopped in ahhaha
The Finals will be exactly on our 1 month anniversary of being here in Hong Kong. We will be competing for 40,000 HKD and a tour of 4 venues in the United States. More importantly, it will be the biggest stand-up comedy showcase I have been a part of! The show is at Kitec Theatre, which seats 700 people, on the 4th of October. I don't think anyone will need to sit on the stairs this time around! If you know anyone here in Hong Kong, I suggest they check this show out, it's going to be HUGE! I cannot wait to be able to entertain that many people at one time, its truly been a dream come true :) There will be video taken of our sets, hopefully it comes out great, so I can show everyone. Thanks again for all the support, couldn't have done this without everyone's kind words and ongoing love. Time to channel my inner George 4man Grillz!
